May 22, 2017 – School Picnic Drivers
Please let me know if you would be able to drive students to Mt. Simon Park on Friday. The plan is to leave Messiah around 10:00.  In general the students you would be driving would be 5th-8th graders. We plan to take most of the younger kids on the ILC bus (to avoid the use of boosters or car seats).  Thank you, Karen

Picnic Food Set-Up
We are looking for a couple of volunteers who might be willing to set up the food serving tables at the school picnic. I usually have to stick around at school for a while after everyone head’s over to Mt. Simon so will not be available.
This would involve setting up all the food, hot dogs, buns, condiments etc. Messiah has an inflatable serving buffet that can be filled with ice to keep things cold.  Lunch starts around noon.  Please let me know if you have questions or might be available to help out with this.  Thanks so much, Karen F.

May 12, 2017 – Coupon Book Update and Hoops for Heart Reminder
Just a couple quick misc. reminders.
We currently have 6 coupon books left unspoken for. Please contact the school office if you would like one. They are $12.50 each. The coupon books that are not spoken for will be returned after the school year is over. There are several families who indicated that they would like one and have not picked them up/paid yet. If you no longer want one please let me know.

Thank you so much for all your help and support this year! ~ Karen

May 9, 2017 – Letter Home
Today’s letter home is attached. The tan envelope should be coming home with your child today as well. Only one more this year!

May 1, 2017 – Entertainment Night Help – 7th-8th Grade Costumes
I am looking for someone that might be able to help by making (or gathering supplies and showing the students how to make) costumes for Entertainment Night this year.
I’ll attach a sample of possible costumes. (Some students will need more specific costumes if they have larger roles in the play.)
Please let me know if you’d be willing to help out in this way. It would be nice to have the costumes finished by Friday, May 19th. ~ Mr. Schaller

We are planning a Star Wars themed Entertainment Night this year. If you have a costume we could use that might fit an 8th grade student for any of these characters please let me know.  ~ Mr. Schaller (no costume attempts for me, please):

April 27, 2017 – Request from Mrs. Oster
Mrs. Oster needs 28 empty and clean 2 liter soda bottles for a project. Please put clean bottles in the boxes on top of the Pre K cubbies.  Thank you.

April 26, 2017 – Correcting Student Work
The volunteer who was helping correct work on Tuesdays is no longer able to do it. If anyone might be willing to help out on Tuesdays, even for a little while, it would be very helpful to the teachers. You can contact the school office if you’re interested or have questions.
Thanks very much! ~ Karen

Request for Summer Daycare
Please see the following note from Rosie Hubbard.

April 18, 2017 – VBS Craft Request
Jessi Scheberl is collecting empty picture frames for a VBS (Vacation Bible School) craft. She is looking for 5×7 to 8×10, but no smaller than 5×7. No glass or backing is needed, just the frame. There will be a box to collect them on the coat rack by the Guest Book in the narthex.  ~ Thank you

March 21, 2017 – Basketball Uniforms
It is very helpful if you attach a note with your child’s name when returning their uniform. This will help us keep track of which ones are still out.
Thanks very much, ~ Karen

February 16, 2017 – Sermon Notes Assignment
Hello Parents – As you know, your student has a weekly assignment for handing in a “sermon notes” sheet. The sheets are on the kiosk in our narthex, or can be downloaded as a pdf file from your Jupiter account. If a certain service is missed, the student can complete the assignment by viewing the sermon online, at (click the “online worship” button – the current sermon is always available by Sunday evening). Starting next week, if the assignment is not handed in by Tuesday morning I will be meeting with late-assignment students at 12 noon on Tuesday, where we will watch the sermon and have them complete the assignment. It would be better for everyone if the assignment were done before that time. This is a valuable listening exercise for the students – thanks for your help in keeping them current. In Christ, Pastor BN

School Access Security

The Board of Education, Council, and Voters have added a plan for school security improvements to our capital improvement list. This means when funds are collected to meet the budget for these improvements we can implement them.  The plan would allow us to update our doors and have them locked during the school day restricting access to our hallways and classrooms.
We have about half the $40,000 dollars needed for the project already donated. If you would like to donate toward this goal you can designate your gift as “School Security” and either put it in the offering plate during a service or send it to the school office. ~ Mr. Schaller
February 3, 2017 – Student-to-Student Recitation No Longer Accepted
It came to light this morning that multiple students have been cheating on hymn recitation. For this reason I will no longer accept hymn sheets that have been recited to other children. ~ Mr. Schaller
(If I am aware of your child’s involvement you should see a slip to sign today.)

Please check back frequently for updates and changes to Classroom Notes, the Events Calendar, and more. We’d love for this to be a daily resource for you in participating in your child’s education and extracurricular events.
