March 21, 2017 – Youth Group Chaos Water Park
We’re trading in tubes on snow for tubes on waterslides! If you’ve got $5 (per person) and a swimsuit, join us! On Sunday, April 9, we’ll meet at Action City (2402 Lorch Ave) at 1pm for devotion. Then we’ll head down to Chaos water park and play until 5pm (families can stay later if they want). Youth Group is usually for 7th-12th graders, but this event is also open to families. Help is available if money is a problem. To register, call/text Pastor Schaller, email, or sign up at the kiosk in the narthex. Attention Drivers: Park at the Action City Doors. Have the front desk people point you to the “Metro A” meeting room. That’s where we’ll have devotion before heading over to the water park. ~ Pastor Schaller
It is very helpful if you attach a note with your child’s name when returning their uniform. This will help us keep track of which ones are still out.
Thanks very much, ~ Karen
March 20, 2017 – Note from Mrs. Thompson
The kids (K-8) will sing this Sunday, March 26th at the 9am service. The adult choir will be joining them for the song. We will be having a short rehearsal with the adult choir immediately following this Wednesday evening’s Lent service, for those who are able to make it. I understand it may not work with everyone’s schedules to be at the evening service, but if you are able to make it that would be great.
Also, Sunday evening at 6:30 is the ILC Tour Choir concert. The K-8 kids have been invited to sing a song with them. They are asked to be at church at 6pm to rehearse with the choir. ~ Mrs. Thompson
March 7, 2017 – EC Nationals Little League Information
If you are interested PDFs are attached. We also sent a printed copy in each letter home envelope today.
2017 EC Nationals Registration Form.pdf
Attached is today’s Letter Home. The tan envelope should be coming home with your child today as well. ~ Karen
Last letter home there was an announcement about Arts Camp and registration information. If you need this information you can contact Karen at the school office.
Kym Stelter, from the Mankato congregation, has asked us to announce that she is willing to collect Arts Camp Registration Forms during basketball tournaments. She suggests that individuals leave them at the scoreboard area. ~ Mr. Schaller
March 5, 2017 – Calling for Mrs. Gurgel’s Replacement
If you haven’t heard our 34th grade teacher, Mrs. Gurgel, has announced her retirement at the end of this school year. We had previously called Heidi Radtke for this position but she was moved to return the call.
Today at our voters’ meeting we continued calling for Mrs. Gurgel’s replacement. The Holy Spirit moved the congregation to extend a call to Mrs. Amy Mielke to serve as our 34th grade teacher starting with the 17-18 school year. Mrs. Mielke is currently teaching at Messiah School in Hales Corners, WI (Milwaukee).
Please pray that the Lord’s will be done,
February 16, 2017 – Sermon Notes Assignment
Hello Parents – As you know, your student has a weekly assignment for handing in a “sermon notes” sheet. The sheets are on the kiosk in our narthex, or can be downloaded as a pdf file from your Jupiter account. If a certain service is missed, the student can complete the assignment by viewing the sermon online, at www.eauclairemessiah.com (click the “online worship” button – the current sermon is always available by Sunday evening). Starting next week, if the assignment is not handed in by Tuesday morning I will be meeting with late-assignment students at 12 noon on Tuesday, where we will watch the sermon and have them complete the assignment. It would be better for everyone if the assignment were done before that time. This is a valuable listening exercise for the students – thanks for your help in keeping them current. In Christ, Pastor BN
School Access Security
We have about half the $40,000 dollars needed for the project already donated. If you would like to donate toward this goal you can designate your gift as “School Security” and either put it in the offering plate during a service or send it to the school office. ~ Mr. Schaller
ILC Enrollment Survey: ILC President Steve Sippert is looking to get an estimate of how many NEW students plan to enroll at Immanuel Lutheran High School and College this fall (Fall 2017-Spring 2018). To give him an idea of how many will be coming from Messiah Church, I’ll be surveying the 8th grade class at Messiah Lutheran School, and asking around. If one of your children plans to enroll at ILHS or ILC as a NEW student this fall, please let me know so I can give President Sippert an accurate figure to work with. ~ Pastor Schaller
February 8, 2017 – Cancellation / Delay Additional Information
We have already announced our policy to follow decisions to cancel or delay by the Eau Claire School District. I’d also like to announce that if we have a delay of more than an hour and a half we will cancel Kindergarten and PreKindergarten classes for the day.
I had hesitated to make this decision in the past because it is difficult with a morning announcement to make sure we are able to communicate with all of our families involved in K and PreK. So, I am hoping this communication keeps everyone on the same page. If we have a morning delay longer than an hour and a half we will not hold Kindergarten or PreKindergarten classes. ~ Mr. Schaller
February 3, 2017 – Student-to-Student Recitation No Longer Accepted
It came to light this morning that multiple students have been cheating on hymn recitation. For this reason I will no longer accept hymn sheets that have been recited to other children. ~ Mr. Schaller
(If I am aware of your child’s involvement you should see a slip to sign today.)
December 26, 2016 – Daycare Needed
I know of a family that is looking for daycare. The family lives about three blocks from Immanuel. The family has three children. A three year old boy, a first-grade boy, and a fourth-grade girl. The 1st and 4th graders would need supervision from 7:15 am until they get on the school bus. They would also need supervision after school until 5:30 pm. The three year old (turning four in February) would need daycare from 7:15-5:30 every other week. They’d prefer the children all be at one home.
The three would also need daycare in the case of snow days or early dismissals.
If you are willing and able to provide paid daycare, please contact Mr. Schaller and I’ll get you in contact with this family. ~ Mr. Schaller
December 15, 2016 – Snow Day Procedures at MLS
When it comes to snow day decisions we follow what the local school district and school transit decides. So, if Eau Claire Schools are closed or delayed – Messiah will be as well (the same amount of time in the case of a delay).
If we have a delayed start, teachers will be at school an hour before school starts (following the same pattern as 7:30 supervision before an 8:30 start on a regular day).
Do not wait for an announcement on TV that says Messiah Lutheran will be closed or delayed.
There is one exception. If there is a day where we are in school but the public school is not – then the decision to cancel or delay will be up to us (these days indicated on the school calendar as Parent Drive Days). If that is the case you will see the announcement on TV that Messiah Lutheran is closed or delayed. ~ Mr. Schaller
Please check back frequently for updates and changes to Classroom Notes, the Events Calendar, and more. We’d love for this to be a daily resource for you in participating in your child’s education and extracurricular events.
